The Domain Name Charter gives the guidelines applied for domain name registration. These provisions apply to all registrars.

How do I register my name?
You can use the WHOIS service to check the availability of a domain name before submitting a registration request or even to look up information relating to a domain name that has already been registered.

A request for .lu domain name registration may be submitted to one of our accredited registrars or directly to DNS-LU.

DNS-LU recommends registering a .lu domain name through an accredited registrar. The registrar is in a position to offer a full range of services other than just the domain names themselves. DNS-LU is unable to recommend a particular registrar and it is up to you to contact one of our registrars directly for information relating to their services and prices.
The List of accredited registrars is currently updated.

You can also become a direct client of DNS-LU. DNS-LU offers two registration options, which are presented below. Please be aware that DNS-LU does not offer services (email addresses, website) other than .lu domain names and nameservers for domains registered exclusively on our online platform (see hereafter).

The first option offered by DNS-LU involves registering and managing your domain name yourself using the Online platform This platform is available 24 hours a day.

However, if you wish to register your domain name with DNS-LU in the traditional way, you must use our paper forms. Registration requests and administrative and technical instructions may be sent by post or fax. These instructions are processed manually during office hours only. Please see the section Classic registration if you prefer to use this option.

If you already hold a domain name with an accredited registrar, you can always transfer management of your names to DNS-LU. The transfer procedure will depend on the method you choose for future management of your name by DNS-LU.
