Registrar Ability test
DNS-LU Technical ability test
Every registrar who wants to get accredited as DNS-LU registrar has to pass a small test in order to check the registrar's ability to operate on DNS-LU domains.
This test has to be executed using both test accounts on the test server. If possible all test operations should be performed the same day.
Test details
The test asks operations that will certainly be used by the registrar from the moment on when business starts.
- Domain creation: At least one new domain has to be created. Also create the contacts, holders and hosts you will use for the domain(s).
- Contact update: Details of one of the above contact have to be updated
- Domain update: Update domain information (e.g. toggle inactive flag, replace contact, replace nameserver).
- Domain trade: Replace the owner of a domain using trade command.
- Domain transfer: Transfer one of the new domains from the account where you created it to your second test account. (CAUTION: for transfer the original and new holders must represent the same person/entity!)
- Delete domain: Delete one of the new domains.
- Poll messages: Retrieve and acknowledge the poll messages in your poll message queue. (make sure the queue is empty).
Since February 2010 the following items are also mandatory:
- Properly define charset for your EPP commands and use non-ASCII characters in some commands to verify proper charset handling. This includes the use of XML header (
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>, replace UTF-8 with the charset you are using) - Include non-ASCII latin1 characters in details of at least 1 contact
- Register at least one ASCII domain name and one IDN domain name
- Add and remove the status flag inactive for one or more domains, removal of this flag may be needed in case nameservers did not work properly at execution of domain creation or transfer/trade.
When you have completed all operations mentionned above, please drop an e-mail to epp@dns.lu and indicate which domain names you used for the operations. If you have further questions regarding this test, don't hesitate to ask.
