Procedure to change a domain name holder
To trade a .lu domain name with another entity or private person, the following steps should be followed.
- The natural person or legal entity taking up the domain name must contact the registrar responsible for managing the name after the trade. This registrar will be responsible for taking the necessary steps to complete the trade.
- The registrar should register the request and an email requesting confirmation of the trade will automatically be sent to the administrative contact or manager representing the domain name holder. See also section below :
Approving a holder change. - If the trade request is not confirmed within the two weeks allowed, this request will be cancelled. If it is confirmed, the new holder will be registered.
- A new registration period will commence once the trade has been completed.
The trade is basically a new registration in the registrar’s portfolio and may require a new management contract to be signed with the new registrant. Given that trades are also invoiced to the registrar by the RESTENA registry, the registrar may also invoice the new registrant. Please contact your registrar directly for any questions relating to invoice charges.
In the event of a domain name managed by DNS-LU being traded, the trade is invoiced to the new registrant based on the current price list described in the “Fees” document and the registration and management method chosen by the applicant.
