Transferring a name from one accredited registrar to another
To move from one accredited .lu registrar (including DNS-LU) to another, follow the steps below.
- Contact the new registrar who will be able to take the necessary steps to complete transfer of the domain name into its portfolio. The old registrar is not involved.
- The new registrar should log the request and an email requesting confirmation of the transfer will automatically be sent to the administrative contact or the current manager acting as the authorised representative of the domain name holder. See also the section below:
Approving a transfer request.
- If the transfer request is not confirmed within two weeks, the request is cancelled. If it is confirmed, the request is approved and the transfer completed.
- The new registrar is responsible for notifying that the transfer has been completed.
- A new registration period will commence once the transfer has been made. This period may vary from one registrar to the next.
The old registrar has no part in the transfer process.
Given that transfers are invoiced to the new registrar by the RESTENA registry, the registrar may also invoice the customer. Please contact your new registrar for any questions relating to invoice charges.
